The MET Cork Shortlisted for Bar of The Year Award 2019

The Victorian Quarter showed their dominance in the land of all things liquor at the 2019 Bar of the year Awards, where a number of pubs and bars on the street were shortlisted for a variety of awards.

We were delighted that the team at The MET were shortlisted for such a prestigious award. The nomination came following a vast refurbishment of the bar and the launch of both The Snug and the Prosecco Lounge earlier in the year.

The Snug hearks back to an older era, a perfect hideaway from the bustling Victorian Quarter, perfect for book clubs or other craft and hobby groups to meet. It can also be booked as a private area for 10 guests or more to enjoy a night out and the Met Bar and Restaurant and has menu options from just €15 per person. It is also the perfect space to pre-book for a weekly or monthly book club or for a drinks reception.

Acclaimed author, Louise O’Neill will be the ‘Writer in Residence’ was the acclaimed writer-in-residence earlier in 2019. Louise is the author of Only Ever Yours, Asking for It, Almost Love and The Surface Breaks.

The Met Prosecco Lounge, also launched earlier this year, serves a variety of prosecco cocktails, such as the “MacCurtain Sweet”. There is also a selection of vegan and organic prosecco from Italy as well as a variety of champagnes.

The Met Prosecco Lounge also serves sharing plates that includes locally sourced Cork meats and cheeses. Restaurant go-ers can also order plates of strawberries, raspberries, elderflower cordial and peach puree to accompany their Prosecco and Champagne flutes and flights of Prosecco are available for those who would like to try a variety of Proseccos, including a Rosé.

The MET Prosecco Lounge is open Thursday to Sunday from 6pm.
