How did you start your career in hospitality?

I started my career in hospitality when I did a cert course in college nearly 30 years ago, since then I have loved working in the hotel industry.
In 5 years I hope to be still with Trigon Hotels doing what I enjoy best, dealing with the public and training new staff members and still having fun.

What is your favourite thing about your role?

I have worked as a Senior Food & Beverage Supervisor for the last few years, but recently I have taken on a new role as a Food & Beverage Training
Specialist in which I am involved in training new team members as well as other team member who wish to progress in their career within the Hotel. I enjoy sharing my knowledge I have learnt over the years with others.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career in hospitality management?

My advice for someone who wishes to reach a senior position in hospitality is to enjoy participating in all aspect of hospitality and remember everyday is a learning day and do not be afraid to get stuck in.

What do you like about working with Trigon Hotels?

I have worked at Cork International Hotel for 11 years and I have learnt a lot as well as building a lot of friendships over the years. There are also opportunities to develop and be recognised here, I have done the “Train the Trainer” course within the hotel which helps me with my present role.

I have also received the employee of the year for last year.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
