How to Accomplish Anything

With Enda Doherty

In the middle of lockdown, our teams had the chance to sit down (virtually) with Enda O Doherty, endurance athlete and motivational speaker as part of our DataBites Speaker Series. Having completed 9 marathons in 8 days while carrying a washing machine on his back, then climbing Mt Kilimanjaro with it again strapped to his back, Enda knows a thing or two about passion, energy and inspiration. In the current circumstances, teams are driving for change, progression and growth and Enda has shared his top tips to inspire you to achieve the best you can in a sporting, business, professional or educational field.

How to Accomplish Anything in 4 Steps:

1. Define your Goal

The first and most important thing in goal planning is to figure out what the exact target is .

2. Give your project a start and end date.

You should know (or decide) when each project should start and end. This will allow you to sequence projects by prioritizing them based on when they need to start or be finished.

3. Make a one-page plan.

A little planning goes a long way to helping a project succeed. To create a one-page plan, jot down your answers or notes for each of the following questions:

  • What problem will the project solve?
  • What is the benefit to me?
  • What are the major milestones?
  • What are the potential stumbling blocks?
  • What risks does this project pose?
  • What is my work plan (list of tasks or sub-items to be completed by when)?

4. Evaluate progress and make changes to the plan as you progress.
