Meet Trigon Hotels’ HR Talent Acquisition Specialist, Katriona Hourihan
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. International Women’s Day also aims to #BreakTheBias and work to improve gender relations and promote gender equality. The theme International Women’s Day 2022 is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.” A key mission this year is to advance gender equality in the time of the climate crisis through women’s leadership. The hashtag #BreakTheBias is a focal point for this year’s campaign to raise awareness and rally for gender equality.
We spoke with Katriona Hourihan, Trigon Hotels’ HR Talent Acquisition Specialist, in the lead up to International Women’s Day to gain an insight into life at Trigon Hotels.
WHAT HAS YOUR JOURNEY AS A LEADER BEEN LIKE AT TRIGON HOTELS?
My journey as a leader at Trigon Hotels has been exceptional. Although, not without its ups and downs, one of the most rewarding parts of my job is being someone that colleagues can look up to. Being a leader is made easier as a result of the strong executive team who help me develop in my role.
AS A MANAGER AND SOMEONE PEOPLE LOOK UP TO, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
As a manager, I would urge my younger self to believe that I could succeed in anything that I put my mind to. Self-belief is an extremely important aspect of progression. To anyone beginning their career in any industry your development relies on your ability to believe in yourself.
HOW DO YOU THINK THE CULTURE HAS CHANGED AT TRIGON TO IMPROVE HEALTH AND WELLBEING?
Trigons main focus has always been its people. Since the hotels have collaborated, extensive efforts have been made to protect and monitor people’s health and wellbeing. The organisation holds events/focus groups etc with the aim of constantly communicating with the team to analyse their wellbeing within the work force.
