Celebrating International Men’s Day
Meet Cork International Hotel’s Senior F&B Supervisor, Zaka Zeeshan
The 19th of November is International Men’s Day, a worldwide celebration of the positive contributions men make to the world, their families, and their communities. International Men’s Day strives to enhance gender relations and promote gender equality by highlighting positive male role models around the world and promoting awareness of men’s well-being. This year’s focus is ‘Better relations between men and women,’ which is one of the six pillars of International Men’s Day.
Our Group HR Business Partner, Johanna Murphy, spoke with Zaka Zeeshan, Cork International Hotel’s Senior F&B Supervisor, in the lead up to International Men’s Day to gain an insight into life at Trigon Hotels.
What has your journey as a leader been like at Trigon Hotels?
I started approximately 7 years ago for Cork International Hotel. My first job was a waiter and then I steadily made way up the ladder. I have had brilliant team leaders which helped a lot in my career with Trigon Hotel’s. I have also had great support and understanding from the management team which helped me grow into the position I am in now.
As a manager and someone people look up to, what advice would you give to your younger self?
Get more serious with life! I never took life too seriously. I have learned to focus more important areas in my life. A project I have loved working is The New Yorker Bar, I would consider it as my baby! I also look after the teams now and give them training and support where I can.
What advice would you give to others?
Give respect and be humble, nothing more needs to be said!
How do you think the culture has changed at Trigon to improve health and wellbeing?
We enjoy a half year meeting with all the staff, where you get to know other staff members and it is always such a fun occasion. It was great to have everyone together. Hopefully once restrictions end we will be able to enjoy these occasions in person again.
