Group Corporate & MICE Sales Manager

When people ask me what a typical day looks like as Group Sales Manager at Trigon Hotels, my answer is always the same…

There isn’t one!

That’s genuinely one of the things I love most about my role. Every day is different, every client has different needs, and every conversation brings a new opportunity. It’s a role that keeps you thinking, keeps you learning and, after almost 20 years with Trigon Hotels, it still keeps me excited to come to work each morning.

My journey with Trigon Hotels began almost two decades ago at the Cork International Hotel. Looking back now, it’s incredible to see how much both the business and I have grown over the years. I’ve been fortunate to work alongside so many talented people, build lasting relationships with clients and watch our hotels continue to evolve into the wonderful destinations they are today.

People often think sales is all about selling, but in hospitality, it’s so much more than that.

It’s about building trust.

It’s about understanding what matters most to each client.

And it’s about creating experiences that people will remember long after they’ve checked out.

Some days I’m welcoming corporate clients for coffee, taking them on hotel showarounds or discussing plans for upcoming conferences and events. Other days I’m working closely with our Reservations team to ensure every booking journey is seamless, collaborating with Revenue to maximise opportunities, or partnering with our Marketing, Digital and Meetings & Events teams to showcase everything our hotels have to offer.

There are also plenty of conversations around Christmas parties, sporting events, international tour groups, gala dinners, business meetings and exciting new opportunities that are still in the planning stages.

No two clients are ever the same, and no two events are ever identical. That’s what makes the role so rewarding.

Of course, hospitality is fast-paced, and things don’t always go exactly to plan. Flexibility is one of the most important skills you can have. Sometimes you need to think creatively, solve problems quickly or completely change direction at short notice. I actually enjoy those moments as they are often when teamwork shines brightest.

One of the greatest parts of my role is the people I get to work with every day.

I’m incredibly lucky to be part of a Sales & Marketing team that genuinely supports one another. Everyone brings different strengths, ideas and experience, but we’re all working towards the same goal: delivering exceptional experiences for our guests and helping our hotels succeed.

That collaborative spirit extends throughout Trigon Hotels. Whether I’m working with Reception, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Reservations, Revenue or our Meetings & Events teams, there’s a real sense that everyone is pulling together. Hospitality simply doesn’t work without teamwork, and I’m proud to be surrounded by colleagues who care so much about what they do.

If someone asked me whether I’d recommend a career in hospitality sales, my answer would be an immediate yes.

It’s a career that’s full of variety, opportunities and people. Every day gives you the chance to meet someone new, build meaningful relationships and make a genuine difference to a client’s experience. You’ll develop confidence, communication skills and commercial awareness, but you’ll also become part of an industry that is built around creating memorable moments for others.

For anyone considering a career in hospitality, I’d encourage you to embrace every opportunity, stay curious and never stop learning. Listen to your clients, support your colleagues and always remember that the little details make the biggest difference.

After almost 20 years with Trigon Hotels, I still feel incredibly proud to represent our hotels and the people behind them. Seeing relationships grow into long-term partnerships, welcoming familiar faces back through our doors and being part of a team that genuinely cares about excellence is something I’ll never take for granted.

No two days are the same.

And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
